Who is Marshall Mathers ?

Marshall Bruce Mathers, better known by his stage name, Eminem was born on October 17, 1972. He is so called King of Hip Hop, many magazines have talked about him as one of top100 greatest artist of all time. I think that is very true. He also has another stage name, or a name that he uses in specific song, Slim Shady wich he uses to express rougher and meaner alter-ego, or his other side of personality. He comes from many places because his mother and him were always moving. He is the only child of Deborah R. and Marshall Bruce Mathers Jr. His father left him when he was 18 months old, leaving him and his mother in very bad position, but as a teenager they lived in Detroit. Later he became an best selling artist in 2000, but he has always been one of the best selling artists. Because of his popularity, his group D12 became a mainstream recognition. He and Royce da 5'9" did Bad meets Evil, very famous duo and it's supposed as Royce is Bad and Eminem is Evil. He thought of his stage name, Eminem when he was young teenage putting the two M's in his name together, M&M. In 1999, his life as an rapper and his life of fame was about to start.

Personal Life

Mathers is not only famous for his art, but also a very troubled family life. He met his wife to be in high school, Kimberly Anne Scott. When he was only fifteen years old, Kim and her sister Dawn lived with him and his mom for a while, after they ran away from home. Marshall and Kim began their relationship, which was always on and off in 1989. They had their only child in 1995, Hailie Jade Mather, who he mentions a lot in his songs. Later Kim and Marshall got married in 1999, but divorced in 2001. Then they remarried in january 2006 and got divorced again in december 2006. But even though Marshall never had another child, he adopted two other girls, Alaina "Lainie" Mathers the child of Kim's sister and Whitney, Scott's child from another relationship.
Eminem has had a lot of trouble with the law, he has been arrested many times, for assaults and having a weapon. He has been sued at least by his mother and by Kim both because of songs he wrote about them, his mother's song and very famous Cleaning out my closet and of course the song My Mom. But about Kim, well if you've heard the song Puke then you know all there is to know but the song KIM is really brutal about him killing her.

He has also been sued by a sanitation worker, his aunt and uncle companies and more. His drug issues has also set a scar on his life, but he was addicted to at least Valium, Methadone, Ambien and Vicodin. Later he also became an sleeping pill addict. In 2009 he claimes to be sober and talks about rap being his drugs. The man who discovered him was no one else but Dr. Dre himself. Many people think of Eminem as a bad influence on youth but the fans won't ever get enough. Eminem has the best quote as an answer to that "It'd be stupid for me to sit here and say that there aren't kids who look up to me, but my responsibility is not to them. I'm not a baby sitter. "

-That in his youth he got beaten so bad that it put him in a coma.
-People often think that he has been in trouble with the law his whole life - but that is incorrect, the first time he was 20 years old because he shot from a paint gun at a police car and the charges were dropped later.
-A very few know of his younger half-brother Nathan Mathers who lives with Eminem, part time.
- At the lowest point in his life he worked at a diner called Gilbert's Lodge where he was a short order cook, but the pay was barely enough for rent.

Albums

My favorite song of all. A soundtrack from 8 Mile.

The 8 mile record came out in 1995 after the movie came out, and on that CD is one of his most successful and famous song of them all, Lose Yourself. With that song Eminem won the Grammy Awards in 2004 for Best Male Rap Solo Performance and for Best Rap Song 8 Mile Soundtrack songs. The 8 Mile Soundtrack album The song was also nominated for Record Of The Year, for Song Of The Year and for Best Song Written For A Motion Picture, Television Or Other Visual Media.
His first studio album was Infinite, came out 1996 and was produced by Proof and Mr. Porter. It features Proof, Mr. Porter and Eye-Kyu, Three and Thryme. This album was kind of a failure, sold only about 1000 copies but even so, it did not stop him.
The second was Slim Shady EP in 1997 where Eminem created the alter ego Slim Shady, his other personality but this one was only a debut. But this album, unlike Infinte helped him get up and being noticed by someone who would change his life and help him with all his career, Dr.Dre.
The next one was Slim Shady LP in 1999 was released by Dr.Dre's Aftermath Entertainment and Web Records. This album is like Slim Shady EP is also written from the perspective of the alter ego Slim Shady. This record won Grammy Award and Best Rap Album in 2003 but was also ranked number 276 on the Rolling Stone magazine, one of the top 500 records of all time.
After that Marshall Mathers LP in 2000 who is probably the greatest of them all and sold over 1,76 million records in the first week. The album won Grammy Award for Best Rap Album and was nominated for the Album of the Year. Now this album was ranked number 7 on the top albums of the 2000s and number 244 on the list of top 500 greatest albums of all time by Rolling Stone magazine. In 2010 it was ranked number 1 of the 10 greatest rap albums by a white person.
In 2002 the great album The Eminem Show got really successful just like the others and was the best selling album in 2002, and like the others it won a Grammy Award and was nominated for the Album of the Year. This album was ranked number 317 by the Rolling Stones Magazine. This was his best record so far.
After that Encore 2004, was released 8 years after his first album Infinite. But fans and critics said that the quality of the lyrics in this album were much more simplistic than in the other albums. This album was nominated to three Grammy Awards and as well for the Album of the Year. This album made digital history in becoming the first album to sell 10.000 digital copies in one week.
Then Relapse in 2009, his first album in five years, due to his writer's block and his addiction to sleeping medication. This is as well the return of Slim Shady and is this album the ending of his drug addiction, after rehab. This album won 2 Grammy Awards.
His latest album Recovery 2010 produced by Shady Records, Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records. This one is a sequel to Relapse and this album was the Best Selling on 2010. He is now working on the 8th studio album, TBA(2013).

8 mile

The movie 8 mile, starring Eminem is about his life. How he's from trailer park home, and lives with his mother and his little sister Hailie who is in real life his daughter. He is working hard for practically nothing because they have nothing. His mom is always with a man who drinks a lot and Eminem does not like. Eminem, with his gang always go to this underground club where rapper make the best of them and battle their way up. But as Eminem is white, no one ever believed that he could rap but as the movie shows he proved them wrong of course. In real life this is how Marshall got started as a teenager, he always had to prove people wrong and to show the that he is and will be the best rapper until this day. The record 8 mile was made and on that record one of the greatest hit is on that record. He is featuring many known artist, 50 Cent, Obie Trice, D12, Jay-Z, Freeway, Xzibit, Nas, Macy Gray, Rakim, Young Zee, Gang Starr and the gang, Wu Tang Clang. Also on this record is my favorite song of them all, Rabbit Run. In the movie his friends always called him rabbit. There are two of the records, 8 Mile and More music from 8 mile but not many know of the second one. Most of these songs were written and some of the recorded before the move, and one of the songs is performed by no one else but Tupac Shakur in 1995, the year before he died after being shot by a gun four times. Proof, a member of D12 and a very good friend also got shot 4 times on 8 Mile Road, in Detroit 2006. The death of Proof tore him down an D12, the gang has not been so active since. Starring in 8 mile was also Brittany Murphy a famous actress who died in 2009 and also Mekhi Phifer and Kim Basinger.

His greatest interest of all has always been music. Hip hop music of course, and his favorite artist has always been Eminem. He tells me how many people underestimate him just because he is white. The best thing about that is how Eminem proves them wrong in so many ways. Many say that Eminem is the greatest rapper in the world, has always been and will always be.
As he was asked about how much he really knew about Eminem, shows how much of a real fan he is. For example, most people know that Eminem's real name is Marshall Mathers, but few know his middle name, Bruce, and not many at all know that he is Marshall Mathers the 3rd.
He was asked, how much do you know about his youth ?
- Simple. Everything that a person can know from the internet, but most of all by understanding the lyrics because Eminem tells you all there is to know. He knew about his childhood being hard and beaten up many times, about him moving from here to there and his mother's alcohol problem. He knew about his girlfriend and later to be his wife Kim, about how Kim's sister and herself lived with him and his mother and that Eminem would later adobt Kim' sister's child one day.
He was asked if he knew the facts that are here above and he did not know of the first two facts but the last two he knew about. But he had heard of the Diner where Eminem used to work. He answered all the questions he was asked.

Conclusion

So now we know how Marshall's life had been up to this. We know why he named himself Eminem and we know all about his legal trouble, his albums and his personal life and addiction. But there is one thing that needs to be clear, to know and understand this much about him you'll have to listen very carefully to his lyrics. He talks about all of this in his lyrics. If you just understand and put things together you will know as much as this about him. He ain't hiding it but he want's the real fans to know and find out for them self, because by knowing all of this you might understand why he says this and does that and how he was formed into the man he is today in his youth. How his life effects him later on in life. How having no father and getting beaten up every day effects him. You'll know all the answers in the lyrics, just need to find them.
His writing and making music has been a great success up to this point, and probably will keep going this well. He has won so many Grammy Awards and he has been nominated so many times and the truth to be told, he is going to win more. We have not seen the last of him.
